The Department of Labor (DOL) has recently issued proposed regulations implementing the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act of 1994 (USERRA). The regulations do not impose any new obligations on employers; instead, they explain and provide guidance on the obligations currently existing under the Act.
The proposed regulations are presented in a question and answer format and are extensive in their coverage. They were published in the September 20 Federal Register. The public has 60 days from the publication date to comment on the regulations. You can access the proposed regulations at www.gpoaccess.gov/fr/index.html. Enter “USERRA” in the “2004 (Volume 69) Only” text search box to go to a list of documents that includes the proposed regulations.
